Meet the doctor
The doctor behind Bickford & Covington, one of the best psychology clinics in the Inland Empire

Dr. Tracy J. Covington
Traveled an eclectic path, pursuing many interests before finding her passion in the field of psychology. Upon completion of a Master’s Degree followed by a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she began her career as an Assistant Professor and Staff Psychologist at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC), Department of Anesthesia, in Southern California. During her tenure at LLUMC, she enjoyed opportunities integrating psychological concepts with a diversity of chronic pain conditions and life-threatening illnesses. This included the creation of Transitions, a clinical support group specific to young adults challenged by severe health conditions such as cancer.
With her life and business partner, Dr. Kurt Bickford, she developed a rehabilitation center for the treatment of chronic pain and stress conditions where she developed and utilized an inter-disciplinary approach, now a standard in the industry. Opportunities to share this treatment model and research were offered at both national and international levels. Her private practice of 30 years has been a composite of services including psychotherapy, applied physiology, executive and organizational coaching, collaboration on professional monthly seminars, a monthly radio show, and a variety of publications emphasizing consciousness, psychology, temperament, and the possibilities of the human endeavor.
Ever on the cutting edge of treatment, Dr. Covington has further expanded her practice to offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), which is the single biggest development in the field of psychology since Prozac became available 30 years ago.
Dr. Covington is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who is Board Certified in Biofeedback and holds a Diplomate in Pain Management.

Goodbye, Redlands. 💜
Escrow closed on 511 Brookside on August 28.
After 35 years and 4 months, that chapter is officially complete.
This was my first full week working from home, and somewhere in the middle of this transition, a dear person caught this completely unplanned moment of me hugging the tree I planted for Kurt. (Thank you Svitlana).
The Kurt Tree.
And yes, that is ice at its feet. It was 104 degrees, so naturally I brought a bag of ice for the tree. Apparently grief, love, and emergency horticulture are now part of my skill set.
511 Brookside held an enormous piece of my life. Kurt and I built our practice there. We worked there, laughed there, grew there, lost there, loved there, and walked alongside thousands of people through pieces of their own lives.
After Kurt died, I stayed.
And somehow that building became more than a building. It became history. Witness. Continuity.
So before I left, I hugged the tree.
I think I was hugging Kurt.
I think I was hugging 35 years and 4 months.
I think I was hugging everyone who ever walked through those doors.
And if you are reading this and you know me, please know this:
I have thought of you during this past month.
So many faces, voices, moments, stories, friendships, patients, colleagues, neighbors, and people I have loved have moved through my mind.
You were not incidental.
You were a vital thread in this strange, beautiful, imperfect, woven thing we call a life.
And I am profoundly aware that my life would not be the same without all of those threads.
The chapter is closed.
The love isn’t.
Goodbye, Redlands.
You were home for a very long time.
And you mattered.
